#1 Visit the Louisiana Habitat at the Alexandria Zoo - The Louisiana Habitat Exhibit is a 3˝ acre addition to the Alexandria Zoo, completed in October 1998. The exhibit cost approximately $3 million to construct over a 13-month period. Funded by the City of Alexandria, Friends of the Alexandria Zoo, the Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism of the State of Louisiana, the Rapides Foundation and many other corporate and individual contributors, this interactive exhibit features the wildlife, flora, architecture, industry and culture of Louisiana. |

#2 Visit Avery Island Touring the visitor center and the pepper sauce factory is just one part of the Avery Island experience. In addition to seeing how we age TABASCO® in white oak barrels and ship it all over the world, you can visit Avery Island's 200-acre Jungle Gardens and see, in season, a variety of azaleas, camellias and bamboo. You might even spy some alligators, deer, nutria, raccoons and black bears that live in the hills and marshes around the gardens.

See 'gators, snakes, egrets, herons and our abundant wildlife, and experience the riches of the Cajun culture and others that settled this wetland paradise 300 years ago. #7 Visit Kent House one of the many Louisiana Plantations Kent House is one of the oldest surviving plantations in Louisiana. Tours are available Monday through Saturday and special tours by appointment on Sundays. If you are a visitor or tourist in Louisiana with an interest in historic houses, Kent Plantation House is one of the plantations you will want to tour. #8 Visit the Frogmore Cotton Plantation and Gins Cotton…then and now is the story told at Frogmore Plantation, and visitors can pick cotton all months except May and June when the plants are immature. An 1800-acre working cotton plantation, Frogmore has eighteen restored buildings that date from the early 1800's. Along with the history of the early Natchez planters and their slaves, the tour includes a rare Smithsonian-quality steam cotton gin. Follow the early Natchez planters and their slaves through an evolution from the wilderness to a thriving 1850's cotton plantation, and then beyond the War Between the States to a struggling new lifestyle called sharecropping. #9 Visit the Hodges Gardens, Park and Wilderness Area is located approximately halfway between Shreveport and Lake Charles, Louisiana, Hodges is easily accessible on US highway 171. Hodges has become one of the state's most spectacular attractions offering 40 acres of gardens, a 225-acre bass fishing lake, miles of hiking and biking trails, and RV and wilderness camping. #10 Visit the Mall of Louisiana Welcome to the Mall of Louisiana!
